From time to time an art gallery or an auctioneer sells a paintings that is not authentic. It even happens once in a while that a museum acquires by mistake a painting that is not authentic.
What is not so well known, is that it occurs just as often, that an authentic painting is rejected.
It is the same error as not recognizing a painting that is not authentic, but in reverse.
